Alappuzha beach:
Alappuzha beach is one of the most popular beaches of Kerela located in the district of Alappuzha. The beach is located at roughly 5 kms from the Alappuzha railway station and has the Arabian Sea on the west and a large network of lakes, lagoons and several freshwater rivers intersection.
Thangasseri:
This is a seaside village replete with historical evidences in the shape of the remnants of an old Portuguese Fort and the churches that date back to the eighteenth century.
Mayannad:
This place is noted for the shrines and temples that dot it. The most important temple is undoubtedly the Subramanya temple that is said to have been consecrated by the Sri Sankaracharya, the Hindu philosopher.
Thirumullavaram:
This clinches the title of being the best beach spot hands down.Feel the bracing cool breeze softly caressing you as you bask in the warm rays of the sun. This is also an ideal place for swimming.
Ambalappuzha ( Pilgrim Centre):
The Sri Krishna Temple at Ambalapuzha, 14 kms from Alleppey is among Kerala's more famous ones boasting of the typical temple architectural style of the state. It is equally famed for its palpayasam - a sweet milk porridge offered to the diety. The temple's main festival occurs in March/April. It was in this temple that the 16th century poet Kunjan Nambiar staged his first Ottan Thullal, a solo dance performance with high social content.
Vijay Beach Park:
This park is located on the beach itself and allows you to enjoy yourself in variety of ways. The park is run by District Promotion Council and pretty nice place for children to have fun.
Karumadikuttan:
The small village near Ambalapuzha is known for the black granite idol of Lord Buddha known as Karumadikuttan. The idol dates back to 9th or 10th century.
Punnapra:
A short distance from Alappuzha is Punnapra, a village which has gone down in history as the scene of a bitter and heroic fighting between the communists and Travancore State Police during the Punnapra Vayalar Communist uprising of 1946.
Mararikulam:
Situated on the coast south of Alappuzha,12 Kms. from Alappuzha, it houses a quiet beach and has an adjoining fishing village. Pool, tennis, water sports and Ayurvedic treatments are the leisure time activities one can available of.
Pandavan Rock:
Pandavan Rock gets its name from the Pandavas of Mahabharata who stayed in a cave here during the time of their exile. Pandavan Para, also known as the Rock of the Pandavas is an ideal picnic spot. It takes walking to get to this location, but it is not a hard climb. Most people that are in good health can easily manage the climb. There are several vantage points with terrific views along the trail. The panoramic view that can be seen when you reach the rocky outcrop at the top is exceptional.
Sreekrishna Temple:
It is about 14km from Alappuzha. The classic architecture of this temple is worth seeing. Besides its architecture, it is well known for its 'Palpayasam' (sweet milk porridge), offered to the deity. The main event of the temple takes place in the months of March/April.
Chettikulangara Bhagwathy Temple:
The locals believe that the presiding deity of the temple has miraculous powers. On the occasion of Bharani the temple is abuzz with activity in the months of February and March.
Arthunkal:
Arthunkal is a famous pilgrim center, known for the St. Andrew's church. The Portuguese missionaries set up this Church 1851 AD. The church is popularly known as St. Sebastian's.
Kayamkulam Thermal Power Plant:
Kayamkulam Thermal Power Plant with a capacity of 350 MW commenced its commercial production in 1999. The plant is situated at Choolatheruvu village in Kayamkulam, which is about 54 km south of Alappuzha on the National Highway 47.
Krishnapuram Palace:
Krishnapuram Palace is located Kayamkulam, 47 km from Alappuzha (Alleppey), Alappuzha district. Built in the 18th century by Marthanda Varma, This two-storied Krishnapuram Palace was once the residence of the Maharajas/rulers of Kayamkulam kingdom. This palace features narrow corridors, saddled roofs and dormer windows. This palace is under the supervision of Archaeology department and is one of the brilliant Kerala highlights
Edathua Church:
This church, dedicated to St. George is of special significance as it is believed that prayers and offerings here help in healing all kinds of mental disorders and other ailments. The annual feast is held from 5th - 7th May and attracts devotees from all parts of south India.

Karumadi:
Karumadi, three Kms. east of Ambalappuzha, has a statue of Budha called Karumadikuttan, a perennial source of interest for the tourists.
Subrahmanya Swamy temple, Haripad:
Sree Subrahmanya Swamy temple at Haripad is one among the three oldest temples of Kerala. Daily a number of devotees come to this holy shrine. It is believed that the temple was established even before the advert of ‘Kaliyuga‘. There are two legends connected with the origin of this temple. One is based on the story mentioned in the ‘Skandapurana‘ and the other is related to the payippad Snake-boat race.
Chavara Bhavan:
Chavara Bhavan is the ancestral home of the blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara. It is now a holy shrine and spiritual resort where thousands of devotees gather for prayer, receive favours and feel amply gratified. Here, a 250 year old historically important beacon of light is preserved intact in its original.

Kayamkulam Lake:
Kayamkulam Lake is located inKayamkulam, Alpuzzha district.it is spread over an area of 60 sq km and is one of the most scenic backwaters in Kerala. The lake, which lies in both the Allepey and Quilon district, is a shallow lake which merges with the sea at the Kayamkulam barrage. Stretching between Panmana and Karthikappally, the Kayamkulam Lake has an area of 59.57 sq km, a length of 30 km and an average breadth of 2.4 Km.
Sea View Park:
The Park offers boating facilities and a swimming pool. Krishnapuram palace It was built in the 18th century during the reign of Marthanda Varma, which displays typical characteristics of Kerala architecture. It also has one of the largest mural paintings is the Gajendra Maksham.
Pallana:
Pallana Kumarakodi is the place where Kerala's poet Kumaran Asan takes his eternal rest. It is now preserved as 'Asan Smarakam' by the State Cultural Department.
Edatuya Church:
Situated 24 kms. away from Alappuzha, on the Alappuzha - Thiruvalla Road. Established in 1810, the church is dedicated to St. George. It is believed that prayers and offerings at this church help to heal all mental disorders and other ailments. During the annual feast (5th, 6th, 7th of May) pilgrims from all parts of South India, irrespective of caste and creed, visit the church and seek the blessings of the saint.
St. Francis Church :
It is the oldest surviving European church in India. The chants of the Roman catholic was first heard in India from this church. Built as a wooden structure by the friars accompanying the Portuguese to India in the year 1503. It was later renovated by the followers of St Francisco in the 16th century.
The Dutch palace :
Situated at Mattancherry, the palace was built by the Portuguese and offered as gifts to the then Cochin ruler Vira Kerala Varma in the year 1555.The wooden ceilings of the coronation hall were incorporated by the Dutch and hence the name remained as the Dutch Palace. The greatness lies in the mural paintings done on the wall of the palace. Near about forty-five scenes from the epic Ramayana adore the walls of the bedchamber.
Chinese Fishing Nets in Cochin Harbor :
The fishing nets in the harbor are a wonderful sight. These cobweb like structure falls suspended from a wooden frame work forming a delicate silhouette beautiful to look at when the sun sets ,giving out shades of crimson.
Jewish Synagogue :
Placed in Mattancheri, this ancient synagogue was built by the Jewish community thriving the place in around 1568. Still preserved carefully, the religious scrolls and hand painted tiles from China decorate the structure.
Q S T and R Block Kayal:
These regions are famous for farming over reclaimed land from the backwaters. The area is protected by dikes built all around and reminds visitors of the famous dikes of Netherlands. A cruise along the canals here is quite a memorable experience.
