This is again related to the historical background of the mosque.The Jama-at-Mosque of Malappuram has a rather unique history of being constructed by a Hindu family called the Prana Nambi. The mosque is over two hundred and eighty of age. Hordes of pilgrims flock to Jama-at-mosque to pay their homage during the four day long celebrations held in the month of April.The Jama-at-mosque does not welcome its female devotees with open arms.Legend has it that the Hindu Prana Nambi family forcefully took over the possessions of the Muslims. But the curse of the victims befell on the mighty family resulting in a fatal disease.The mosque is an act of retribution to escape the trauma.

Manjeri:

Twelve Kms. north east of Malappuram town, Manjeri is the head quarters of Ernad Taluk. It was a live centre of the National Movement. Manjeri Kovilakam was the seat of the ruling families under the Zamourins. The District Hospital and the District Court are at Manjeri .

Nilambur(Forest area):

Nilambur is famous for its teak plantations. The oldest teak plantation of the world, the Conolly's Plot is just 2 Kms. from Nilambur town. The plot was named in memory of H.V. Conolly, the then Malabar District Collector, who was instrumental in raising the teak plantation in the entire Nilambur area.

Kottakkal:

This small town, 13 Kms from Malappuram is the home of the famed Kottakkal Arya Vaidyasala, one of the pioneer institutions of Ayurveda in India. Ayurveda, Indian’s unique science of life and medicine, has a major role in attracting tourists to Kerala.

Valiya Juma Masjid Malappuram:
