Dweep means an island; it is a group of 7 islands on the tributaries of Kabini River flowing into the forests.Kuruva Dweep is a series of islands formed on the Kabini river in the Wayanad district of Kerala. Kabini is Tributary of Cauvery river. Dweep in Malayalam means island. The Kabini river splits in to two at the Kuruva Dweep and joins back again. Although much of the river is shallow in these islands , some regions are very deep. In those deep regions crocodiles can be found. Boating facility is provided here by the District Tourism Promotion Council of Wayanad. It makes an ideal picnic spot with trees, animals, birds and exotic orchids and herbs. From the mainland, a ferryboat will transport to one of the islands, and from the other side of this island a bamboo raft facility is provided to go to another island. Standing on the raft and drifting on the river is very adventurous and exciting. At some places the river is shallow and runs between rocks and creeks with beautifully shaped driftwood jutting out to make their presence felt.
